The Role

The Project Accountant will support the financial management of a portfolio of donor-funded International Development Assistance Programs. The Project Accountant will form part of a dynamic finance team and provide oversight, structure and financial governance to development projects implemented by DT Global. This role will report to the Senior Project Accountant.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure the financial arrangements of DT Global Asia Pacific programs are operating in line with contractual obligations and requirements.
• Manage compliance of finance-related activities of programs and projects in line with Accounting Standards.
• Provide advice on budget development, oversight of expenditure, and reporting program progress and completion.
• Manage aspects of project finances including:

o Monthly accounts reconciliation and maintaining project ledger;

o Revenue recognition criteria for projects;

o Invoicing;

o Developing costing for contract amendments;

o Internal audit of project finances;

o Providing training and ongoing support to in-country project finance teams;

o Assisting with cash flow management and reporting;

o Preparation of monthly external and internal reports on current expenditure and forecasts against contract limit and project budget.

o Preparation of annual budgets for the program.

• Play a key role in the start-up phase of a project, including establishing financial policies and procedures for programs to fund and record activity expenditure in compliance with DT Global’s accounting policies and clients’ head contract requirements; establishing and maintaining the project chart of accounts; and delivering training to in-country finance staff of relevant systems.
• Process and maintain financial management records for program expenditure and provide regular reporting to the Senior Manager and clients as required in the head contract and upon request.
• Develop monthly forecasts of project expenditure for management of cash flow and client reporting.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and other contractors.
• Contribute to upholding the technical and management reputation of DT Global and its clients.
• Provide assistance to other areas of the company as required.
• Some domestic and international travel may be required.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or other relevant degree is required.
• A minimum of five years’ professional experience in a similar role and project accounting environment.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Desirable

• Strong analytical aptitude and a demonstrated ability to communicate and present analyses.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in English
• Ability to work as part of a remote administration team as well as work autonomously.
• Ability to use initiative and make decisions with discretion when completing tasks, ensuring key responsibilities are completed within required timeframes.
• Accurate numerical work and attention to detail.
• Positive, constructive attitude and ability to integrate feedback.
