This position will be a member of the Global IT Infrastructure Services organization, responsible for professional and technical work related to hosting services.
This is an advanced service supporting role, primarily responsible for the transitional and operational tasks and duties in support of hosting service implementations that span across a broad range of global services and solutions. The primary focus of this role will be on UNIX and Linux Operating systems.
Job Responsibilities
Performs timely response and resolution to requests and incidents raised through various channels of support including but not limited to ticketing systems, email, chat, in-person, phone, etc.
Ability to perform remote troubleshooting and provide clear instructions
Follow through to resolution, or escalation to the appropriate team, while maintaining appropriate documentation requirements
Administers maintains and monitors UNIX/Linux systems running in both the data center and our plant environments
Maintains maximum availability of mission-critical systems around the globe and ensures availability and accessibility
Manage small to medium projects within area of specialization and across functional groups
Provides technical leadership for small to medium project teams
Monitor to maintain system performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and uptime), while testing for weaknesses or vulnerabilities to ensure system security, stability, and availability
Conduct analysis reporting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in coordination with internal and external escalation points
Works with application teams and internal customers by providing references and support to leverage best practices within our environment
Contribute to and maintain system standards
Flexibility in work schedules, including evening, weekend, holiday, and rotating shift requirements. Ability to run break-fix incident resolutions that may have on-call requirements
Job Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience with the following:
Manages and maintains UNIX and/or Linux Server environment including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting in large environments
Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems
Shell and/or Perl scripting hands-on experiences
Demonstrated successful experience in developing efficient and effective solutions to business problems
Good understanding of networking technologies and protocols
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Practical knowledge of the following:
ITIL Methodology – Foundations
Vendor Engagement
Customer Experience Provider
Escalation Management
Change Management
Incident/Problem Management
Operations and Support
Will be required to support enterprise-wide, mission-critical UNIX and Linux operating systems with little support or assistance
Will be involved with the planning, installation, implementation, and configuration of company UNIX and Linux operating systems Incumbent will be required to write necessary procedures and develop standards
Will be required to participate in 24*7 on-call support
Will analyze and participate in the security and data integrity controls for all of the UNIX and Linux resources
Will participate in the analysis and design function for new and existing systems to ensure adherence to technical standards, data standards, and integration with other applications
Will be involved with the planning and implementation of UNIX and Linux backup and recovery procedures
Required technical skills
Unix and/or Linux operating system advanced administration
Shell and/or Perl scripting
Good understanding of networking technologies and protocols
Desired technical skills
Configuration/administration of virtual machine using VMware
Red Hat satellite knowledge
Operating system clustering experience
