POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Quezon City, Philippines

  • The CIPFI-TRANSCEND Project Director will be responsible for the co-implementation of Output 1 of TRANSCEND and will specifically be in charge of overseeing CIPFI deliverables on a day-to-day basis, preparing periodic, annual, and terminal reports and managing the morale of project staff. The Project Director (PD) works closely with the Southern Luzon Landscape Manager to ensure there is proper and seamless coordination among the Project Consortium at the Southern Luzon Landscape of the project. The PD is a member of, and reports to, the Country Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of CIP’s engagement in the TRANSCEND Consortium.
  • Manage the project, provide oversight, leadership, and coordination support, especially with the Southern Luzon Site Manager, and ensure that all project deliverables are exceptionally implemented within budget and compliance.
  • Lead the development of project strategies, performance objectives, work plans, and metrics.
  • Provide support to the Luzon Site Manager in strategizing the coordination mechanism among project consortium members to ensure smooth implementation of Output 1 activities relative to the other individual outputs.
  • Provide strategic oversight and team leadership to implement project activities and ensure high-impact outputs effectively. Lead and inspire all project staff.
  • Prepare, with the Business Support Team, CIPFI-TRANSCEND’S annual work plan, and budget for monitoring and reporting expenditures.
  • Directly oversee and ensure project compliance with CIP policies, funding agreements, and local requirements.
  • Ensure program alignment and integration with CI-wide conservation priorities as well as with the overall TRANSCEND consortium initiatives.
  • Initiate and facilitate project-related meetings as well as act on behalf of CIPFI’s Executive Director as an alternate to the TRANSCEND Consortium’s Project Steering Committee (PSC) meetings, as needed.
  • Prepare technical and financial project reports in collaboration with the members of the CIP Project Coordinating Team (PCT).
  • Participate in the project-level implementation of an M & E system that monitors, measures, interprets, and shares results on a regular basis.
  • Champion knowledge sharing and cross-collaboration to build capacity and address capacity gaps. Position CI as a recognized and sought-after subject-matter expert.
  • Continuously cultivate and engage stakeholders, including development partners, government and NGOs, technical colleagues, and other partners critical to program success.
  • Continuously represent the organization externally. Serve as a trusted and visible point of contact for CIPFI TRANSCEND project.
  • Champion opportunities for project growth and development.
  • Ensure project financial sustainability by securing complementary project funding. Regularly partner with other CIP projects and HQ staff on funding proposals and other fundraising efforts.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The incumbent will be reporting to the CIPFI CED.
  • The position will require travel about 70% of the time in the implementing sites and may need to work extended hours, in remote locations, often in difficult travel conditions.
  • This position will lead the Project Coordinating Team.
  • Guidance on flexible work arrangements will be shared during the interview process.
  • This is a fixed-term assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Environment Science / Management or field related to the objectives of the project with 7 or more years of progressively responsible ‘ridge to reef’ work experience implementing multi-sector programs with demonstrated strong management skills.
  • 2 or more years of relevant leadership and management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multi-faceted national-level development programs; must have established networks (or the demonstrated capacity to establish relationships) with key stakeholders including government at the national and provincial levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects or initiatives in terrestrial, riparian and coastal and marine environments involving multiple internal and external stakeholders. A project management certification is preferred (PMP, ProjectDPro, etc).
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and success in effectively inspiring and engaging diverse work groups in a multicultural environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and some local language(s) to facilitate effective communication with both local communities and partners.
  • A record of success partnering with, and influencing, key stakeholders and successfully raising funds.
  • Proven ability to multitask and meet priorities the preparation and submission of technically accurate and timely reports.
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities with limited supervision.

Preferred

  • Master’s/Ph.D degree.
