A Furniture Finisher is responsible for restoring, finishing & maintaining furniture pieces by applying stains, paints, sealants or other finishes. The role involves preparing wood & other surfaces, repairing defects & ensuring that finished products meet quality standards & client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, or design specifications to determine required finish.
• Prepare furniture surfaces by sanding, stripping, filling cracks, or smoothing imperfections.
• Mix and match stains, paints, or lacquers to achieve desired color and finish.
• Apply finishes using hand tools, brushes, spray guns, or other equipment.
• Repair, restore, or refinish old or damaged furniture to extend usability and improve appearance.
• Ensure all completed pieces meet quality, durability, and aesthetic standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow safety guidelines when working with chemicals, paints, and machinery.
• Collaborate with carpenters, upholsterers, or designers as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or vocational training in woodworking, carpentry, or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience as a furniture finisher, woodworker, or similar role.
