MAJOR DUTIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and administration of a high availability environment as well as providing leadership in transitioning technical operations from traditional administration and deployment management to infrastructure as application leveraging automation/configuration management technologies. Job Functions:
  • Install, maintain, support, and monitoring Linux servers
  • Assisting in the software build and release process
  • Improving the companys internal build and automation processes
  • Creating new infrastructure and tools to help drive new projects
  • Engage with Cloud Architects and provide feedback for projects that require Linux based solutioning
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Perform duties associated with patching and vulnerability management including troubleshooting, issue identification, solutions, and testing
  • Execute routine maintenance operations of systems monitoring and reporting, including usage, availability, other key performance indicators
  • Creating and automating services through common CI/CD constructs and tools
  • Provide technical leadership for projects, documenting outcomes and observations for continuous improvement
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED - Required
Licenses or certifications
  • Linux Admin certifications - Required
EXPERIENCE: Required experience: Years: 6 - 10 years - Linux Administration KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Minimum 8-10 years of UNIX/Linux system administration experience with a large infrastructure and organization
  • Must have firm understanding of Linux internals and experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of UNIX/Linux based infrastructures
  • 8+ years Linux, NAS, SAN experience required
    • Storage skills desirable
  • Experience with and understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and related network protocols
  • Vulnerability Assessment (testing, assessment, mitigation/justification)
  • Experience with building, configuring and deploying Linux systems
  • Excellent experience in cloud, virtualizations and storage technologies and solutions
